But honestly, that doesn't really bother me. Don't get me wrong - I love french fries and appreciate the top notch specimens from places like Luke and La Boca. But here's the thing: I don't need to be eating french fries. (I don't "need" to be eating a duck po-boy either, but that's not the point.) If skipping out on average or sub-par french fries makes it a little more tolerable for me to eat that slab of foie gras somewhere down the line, then I am all for that tradeoff. Same goes for a place like Crabby Jack's. I'll forego the french fries without a second thought because the po-boys more than make up for it.
Now if only the Maple Leaf was next door...

This is probably blasphemous but the fried chicken at Crabby Jacks is certainly better than Popeye's not quite sure if it is better than Dookie's though.
Forget about fries or onion rings at Crabby Jacks - go for the potato chips or sweet potato chips. Paper-thin curls of shaved potato, fried till just crisp and totally ethereally wonderful. Thank god I work nowhere near there. They're in my top 10, maybe top 5, of all fried products available locally. (That would be a fun list to compile.)
The best size shrimp for poor boys are between jumno and popcorn. The kind just big enough to butterfly. The small ones that come on 95% of the poor boys out there result in a sandwich that's as much Fish-Fri as shrimp. And the real big ones should be barbecued.
You missed out the two best things on Crabby Jack's menu; the Calamari Po-boy and the Fish Tacos.
