You Say Tagalongs. I Say Peanut Butter Patties.

As if we New Orleanians don't already have enough temptations luring us away from our post-carnival cleanse. Just like clockwork, those green sashed sirens of the sweet tooth began delivering boxes of Samoas and Do-si-dos last week. Quite honestly, the time couldn't come soon enough. Those first 5 days of Lent were rough.

Did you know that the Girl Scout Cookies website has a freaking countdown clock for when deliveries begin in your zip code? Such is the result of the cult following of an army of cute little girls who create waves of mass hysteria every spring. No one can resist a box of Girl Scout Cookies, except maybe the Keebler elves, who forego out of pure spite.

In honor of the Girl Scout Cookies season, Blackened Out is taking a poll of our readers' favorite Girl Scout Cookies. If you've ever eaten an entire package of Thin Mints straight from the freezer, then you are allowed to vote twice.

Who knows? Maybe the winning cookie will be featured in an upcoming MVB special shake of the week...

Samoas.

Tagalongs. Thin mints are a close second. Both would make excellent milkshakes...

Dulce de Leches ... and this is the last year they're making them.

Next time I pass a Girl Scout table outside the market and a nine-year-old charmer approaches with an order pad and a hopeful look, I'll just snap "Not one penny for your cookie racket until you bring back the Dulce de Leches! NOT ONE PENNY!"

Unrelated: am I the only one who always malapropizes "Tagalongs" as "Tagalogs"?

Three Things!

1. I Vote Tagalongs...and yes I have a box calling my name in my desk drawer now!

2. Peanut Butter Patties vs. Tagalongs? It depends on what Baker your Local Council uses...and Yes there are TWO Girl Scout Cookie Bakers! Here in NOLA, Girl Scouts Louisiana East uses Little Brownie Bakers (who makes Tagalongs, Samoas with Dark Chocolate, Round Thin Mints). The Other Baker is "ABC" - The American Baking Company (who makes Peanut Butter Patties, Caramel Delights with Milk Chocolate and Thin Mints with Scalloped edges)!

3. Several Councils around the country are piloting a "Super 6" - only selling the 6 Traditional GS Cookies (Samoas, Tagalong, Lemon Chalet Creme, Trefoils, Do-SiDos, and Thin Mints) to see how a slimmer product line effects sales. In NOLA we dont do anything Slim, and next year will still be carrying both Dulce De Leche AND Thank You Berry Munch!

P.S. I work for the Local Girl Scout Council! If your interested in buying in Bulk for what I know would be an AMAZINNG Thin Mint Shake, Shoot me an Email! For Everyone else Dying to find someone selling to curb your cravings Call **GSCOOKIES or Download for Free the "Cookie Locator" App on your iPhone or Blackberry! This weekend will be the LAST weekend of Sales! And remember Calories for a Good Cause Dont Count...and GS Cookies are a Moral Loophole for those who gave up sweets for Lent!

Have recently become a Tagalongs afficionado. Key is to keep them in the fridge, not freezer.

Newlywed, shoot us an email at blackenedout. We need to buy some cookies.

Samoas! However, I must say that my love for the original has been greatly reduced by the many "copycat" versions of Samoas that can be found on the internet. Making them fresh for yourself, in bar or cookie form, using fresh coconut, real chocolate, butter cookie base, is so much yummier than the packaged kind.

THIN MINTS.

So much that I'm also voting for Samoas.

Thin Mints. A box has become my lunch on more than one occasion.

Challenge: You embrace the challenge of yesteryear and try to design a better Thin Mint.

My neighborhood girl scout emailed me a sweet note soliciting my order and delivered my cookies in person. Major sweetness going on these days!

I can't vote in your poll. I have no clue what the new names are. Never bothered to learn them. I stick with the names they were when I sold them.

As a kid I loved Caramel Delights. Now I'd have to say it's a toss up between Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Patties. I also love me some Shortbread when I'm in that kind of mood.

I love Tagalongs, except when I'm eating thin mints. Now a thin mint shake would be really good, maybe with peanut butter??

Definitely Peanut Butter Patties!
